UCLA took the early advantage in the match thanks to two comeback victories on courts 4 and 2. Ava Williamson and Jesse Dueck dropped the first set but won the last three points of the second set. They cruised in the third to gain the first point for UCLA, 13-21, 21-19, 15-11 over Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok on court 4. On court 2, Kaley Mathews and Ensley Alden fought off three match points in the third set against Ashley Pater and Sarah Wood. On the third match point faced, at 15-16, Mathews tied it with a kill down the line, then put UCLA ahead 17-16 on a block. The Bruins did not waste their first match point opportunity, as Mathews won it on a point at the net, 15-21, 21-16, 18-16.

USC claimed its first point on court 5 with a 21-18, 21-17 win by Madison Goellner and Kaileigh over Kenzie Brower and Mallory LaBreche. The Bruins won the first sets on courts 1 and 3, with Alexa Fernandez and Harper Cooper winning a marathon first set, 31-29, on court 3. They would go on to win the match, 31-29, 21-19 to finish the match. The Bruins' No. 1 pair of Sally Perez and Maggie Boyd, newly named AVCA Beach Player of the Year semifinalists, clinched the win for UCLA, 22-20, 21-16 over Kennedy Coakley and Zoey Henson.
