
UCLA Rowing Finishes Sixth at Pac-12's

GOLD RIVER, Calif. - The No. 20 UCLA women's rowing team finished sixth overall at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships at Lake Natoma on Sunday morning.
The Bruins compiled a final team point total of 15.5, the sixth-highest total of seven Pac-12 programs. California won the Pac-12 title, with Stanford taking second, Washington third, Washington State fourth and USC fifth. Oregon State rounded out the teams with a seventh-place finish.
This year's Pac-12 Championships featured six teams ranked in the top 20 of the CRCA weekly coaches' poll – No. 2 California, No. 4 Washington, No. 6 Stanford, No. 12 USC, No. 13 Washington State and No. 20 UCLA.
UCLA's varsity eight crew finished sixth out of seven boats, while the Bruins' second varsity eight raced to a fifth-place finish. UCLA's third varsity eight finished fifth out of six crews, and the team's varsity four crew posted a sixth-place finish out of seven boats.
The Bruins' varsity eight posted a time of 6:41.096, just 5.54 seconds behind fifth-place competitor Washington State (6:35.556) and 3.754 seconds ahead of Oregon State (6:44.850). California won the varsity eight race with a time of 6:22.033, while Stanford (6:22.916), USC (6:29.825) and Washington (6:29.905) rounded out the top four finishers.
UCLA's second varsity eight finished its race in 6:48.531, just 0.305 seconds ahead of sixth-place competitor Oregon State (6:48.836) and 7.628 seconds ahead of USC (6:56.159). California won the second varsity eight race with a time of 6:26.868, while Washington (6:30.585), Stanford (6:38.585) and Washington State (6:42.979) rounded out the race's top four finishers.
The third varsity eight race was the first of the four women's races on Sunday morning. UCLA posted a time of 6:55.481, crossing the finish line 0.746 seconds ahead of sixth-place USC (6:56.227). Washington won the third varsity eight race with a time of 6:30.697. California (6:37.224) finished second, followed by Washington State (6:45.421) and Stanford (6:51.097), respectively.
UCLA finished its varsity four race with a time of 7:36.374, crossing the finish line 9.33 seconds ahead of seventh-place Oregon State (7:45.704). California won the varsity four race with a time of 7:04.701. Washington (7:08.881) finished second, followed by Stanford (7:14.404), USC (7:25.837) and Washington State (7:27.181), respectively.
