Four Bruins Earn Pac-12 All-Academic

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Pac-12 Conference announced the 20 student-athletes on its inaugural Beach Volleyball All-Academic Teams this week and four Bruins made the grade. Seniors Julie Consani and Kamila Tan were each named to the First Team while sophomore Ivey Schmitt was named to the Second Team and sophomore Elise Zappia earning Honorable Mention honors.
The Bruins finished third at the inaugural NCAA Championship and ended the 2016 season with a 22-8 record. Consani went 20-11 in her final collegiate campaign while Tan finished 23-13. Zappia had a 21-12 mark while Schmitt ended the year with a 19-12 record
Washington senior Justice Magraw earned the sport's Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor.
To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average, be either a starter or significant contributor and have a minimum of one year of enrollment at their institution. The Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor is awarded to a senior student-athlete (in athletics eligibility) who is on track to receive a degree and fulfills the criteria for All-Academic Team selection.
