2015
Zappia partnered with Madie Smith for the entire season, going 18-10 overall ... went 18-9 at #2 doubles and 0-1 at flight #2 ... partnered with Smith at the inaugural "Dad" Center Founder's Cup at Queen's Beach in Waikiki at #2 doubles and won gold, finishing second in Pool "Dad" ย ... the duo defeated Oregon's Kacey Nady and Frankie Shebby, 21-17, 20-22, 15-10 and then fell to CSUN's Casey Hinger and Kelcie Randazzo in straight sets, 25-23, 21-19 ... Zappia and Smith defeated USC's Alexa Stonish and Paige Hines in the semifinals and then avenged an earlier loss to CSUN's Hinger and Randazzo in the title match ... finished second at the Stanford Inviational Pairs Tournanemtn, falling to teammates Zoe Nightingale and Kamila Tan in the finals (21-15, 21-15)ย ...ย posted wins over CSUN (March 5), Loyola Marymount (April 1), CSU Bakersfield (April 4), California (April 10), Stanford (April 11), California (April 12), Saint Mary's (April 12), Long Beach State (April 15), California (April 18), Long Beach State (April 24), Hawai'i (April 26) and Saint Mary's (April 25).

Zappia was a three-year starter and letterwinner for coach Adam Cutrell and later Dan O'Dell at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif. ...ย earned 2014 AVCA High School Sand Honorable Mention All-America honors.

Born Elise Christine Zappia in Newport Beach, Calif., on Sept. 17, 1996 ... parents are Frank and Martha Zappia ... has an older brother, John ... her brother is a redshirt sophomore middle blocker on the UCLA men's volleyball team ... her uncle, Edward Zappia is a UCLA graduate ... chose to attend UCLA because, "I wanted to go somewhere that would challenge me both academically and athletically" ... lists beating Great Oak High School in five sets at home in a CIF Semifinal match with a personal-best 27 kills as the biggest athletic thrill of her career ... hobbies include reading, listening to vinyl records and cooking/baking ... has a black belt in taekwondo ... athlete she admires is former UCLA and NBA great, Reggie Miller ... majoring in political science.
