May 09, 2016 | Women's Tennis
TEMPE, Ariz. – UCLA senior Catherine Harrison was named the ITA Southwest Region Senior Player of the Year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Monday.
Harrison, the No. 17 player in the nation in singles, was this year's Pac-12 Women's Singles Championship runner-up. Harrison posted a 16-2 dual match record at the top of the lineup and was 12-3 against ranked opponents this spring. Against ranked Pac-12 opponents, the Bruin senior was 9-2—her only losses at the hands of Cal's Maegan Manasse on Feb. 20 and in the Pac-12 Singles Championship match (Apr. 24). Harrison earned First-Team All-Pac-12 honors this season as well.
By winning a regional honor, Harrison is now in contention for the ITA National Senior Player of the Year award. National award winners for Division I will be announced on Tuesday, May 24.
