
UCLA Earns USTFCCCA All-America Honors

NEW ORLEANS — All-America honorees for the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season were announced Monday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). UCLA garnered 16 honors by the organization.
Student-athletes earned First-Team USTFCCCA All-America honors by virtue of finishing among the top-8 in their events, including as a member of a relay, at this past weekend's NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Historic Hayward Field.
Second-Team All-America honors go to those who finish ninth through 16th and Honorable Mention is 17th through 24th.
Three Bruins earned first-team accolades as freshman Rai Benjamin placed sixth in the 400m hurdles. In the shot put senior Nicholas Scarvelis was fourth while sophomore Braheme Days followed in fifth.
Second-team honors went to senior Nick Hartle in the 800m with a 14th place finish and senior Lane Werley in the 10,000m as he placed 12th overall. The women's 4x100m relay also garnered second-team accolades by placing 15th.
