
Five Bruins Earn All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. โ Five UCLA women's tennis players earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, the conference announced Thursday morning.ย Kyle McPhillips was selected to the Second Team, while Catherine Harrison, Laura Luca, Terri Fleming, and Kristin Wiley received honorable mention nods.ย
McPhillips, a senior majoring in political science, boasts a 3.54 GPA.ย She compiled an 18-7 overall record in singles while posting a 19-5 doubles mark with Harrison.ย The duo ended the season ranked No. 5 in the final ITA Doubles Rankings after advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship.ย This is McPhillips' third straight Pac-12 All-Academic honor.ย
Harrison, the Pac-12 Singles runner up, owns a 3.26 GPA as an anthropology major.ย The Bruin checked in at No. 18 in the final ITA Singles Rankings, compiling a 34-11 overall record in singles and a 15-3 dual match doubles mark with McPhillips.ย Harrison was this season's ITA Southwest Region Senior Player of the Year.ย This is Harrison's second straight Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honor.ย ย ย ย
Also earning honorable mention nods are Luca, Fleming, and Wiley.ย Luca, who joined the team as a senior this year, has a 3.36 GPA as a double major in political science and economics.ย Fleming and Wiley, both sophomores with undeclared majors, own 3.12 and 3.44 GPAs, respectively.ย ย
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and compete in at least 50 percent of the team's matches.ย ย
