UCLA is well represented at the U.S. Track Olympic Trials
EUGENE, Ore. โ The UCLA track and field team was well represented at the U.S. Olympic Trials held on the campus of the University of Oregon at Historic Hayward Field. The trials concluded on Sunday, July 10.
Day one of the trials will be a busy one for the Bruins as five athletes that wore the UCLA uniform will compete. Five time Olympian Amy Acuff will be joined by former All-American Zibby Boyer in the high jump at 4:15 p.m. PT. UCLA All-Americans Nick Hartle and Brandon Johnson will toe the line in the 800m at 4:15 while All-American Kylie Price competes in the long jump at 5:10 p.m.
On Saturday, July 2, Michael Woepse will compete in the pole vault at 10:30 a.m. PT. The start lists for the competition for later in the week has not been released.ย
The second half of the trials for the Bruins will get underway on Thursday, July 7 when 2008 Olympic gold medalist Dawn Harper-Nelson opens her competition in the first round of the 100m hurdles at 5:02 p.m. The UCLA duo of Turquoise Thompson and Nicole Leach run in the first round of the 400m hurdles at 5:58 p.m. Kevin Craddock will begin his quest for Rio on Friday, July 8 in the 110m hurdles at 3:02 p.m.

Heptathlon - UCLA volunteer assistant coach Sharon Day-Monroe just missed out on another Olympic appearance by placing fourth with a score of 6,385 points. Tatum Souza followed in 16th with 5,662 points.
Saturday, July 9
Heptathlon - After the first day of the heptathlon UCLA volunteer assistant coach Sharon Day-Monroe is in fourth place with 3,813 points while Tatum Souza follows in 17th with 3,363 points. The duo wraps up the meet, beginning with the long jump at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Friday, July 8
100m Hurdles โ Dawn Harper-Nelson missed the finals by clocking a 13.01 in the semifinals.
110m Hurdles โ Kevin Craddock was unable to get out of the first round by running a 13.94, the 24th fastest time of the round.
Pole Vault โ Allison Koressel finished 21st in the women's pole vault, clearing 13-11.25.
400m Hurdles โ Turquoise Thompson ran a 1:00.76 to place 16th in the semis, unable to advance to the finals.

Thursday, July 7
100m Hurdles โ Dawn Harper Nelson cruised in the first round to qualify for the semifinals by clocking a 12.85 to finish second in her heat and post the ninth fastest time overall. The semifinals will begin on Friday at 3:58 p.m.
400m Hurdles โ Turquoise Thompson was able to move on to the semis by qualifying on time in the first round. Thompson ran the 13th fastest qualifying time at 56.76. The semis are set for Friday at 4:31 p.m. Nicole Leach was unable to advance as she clocked a 57.94.
Monday, July 4
Pole Vault - Mike Woepse capped off his stay at the trials by finishing ninth in the pole vault by clearing a final height of 18-0.50.
800m -ย Brandon Johnson placed eighth in the 800m finals with a time of 1:47.41.
Sunday, July 3
High Jump โ Zibby Boyer had her trip to Eugene end in the finals as she unfortunately was unable to clear the opening height of 5-10.50
Mike Woepse will open the competition for the Bruins tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. PT. Brandon Johnson will toe the line in the 800m final at 5:51 p.m.
Saturday, July 2
Pole Vault โ After a rough start to the competition, missing on his first two attempts at 17-8.50, one of the top pole vaulters in UCLA history got hot. Mike Woepse cleared the third and final bar and then did not miss the rest of the way, culminating in a clearance of 18-2.50 on his firsts attempt to advance to the finals as the fifth overall qualifier. Woepse will aim for a spot in Rio in the finals on Monday, July 4 at 3:30 p.m. PT.
800m โ Brandon Johnson extended his stay in Eugene by posting the eighth fastest semifinal time of 1:47.02. Nick Hartle missed out on the final by placing 13th overall with a 1:49.55. Johnson will compete in the final on Monday, July 4 at 5:51 p.m.
Long Jump โ Kylie Price got her professional career off to a fast start by placing eighth overall in the women's long jump final. Price leaped to a Saturday best of 21-5.50 (6.54m). That mark is a wind legal (+1.9) career best.
Zibby Boyer will be the lone Bruin competing on Sunday as she looks to punch her ticket to Rio in the women's high jump final at 3:15 p.m.
Friday, July 1
800m โ The two Bruins competing in the grueling 800m will advance to the semifinals as Brandon Johnson and Nick Hartle both handled their business. Johnson clocked a 1:47.62 to be the eighth overall qualifier while Hartle ran a 1:47.83 to be the 12th qualifier. The semifinals will take place tomorrow at Noon.
High Jump โ Zibby Boyer will advance to the finals as the 11th overall qualifier by clearing 5-10.50 (1.79m). All-time great Amy Acuff saw her bid for a sixth Olympics fall short as she finished 16th overall. The finals are set for Sunday, July 3 at 3:15 p.m.
Long Jump โ Fresh off her final season as a Bruin, Kylie Price soared to new heights as she leaped an all-conditions personal best of 21-10.25 (+2.5w) on her first attempt to finish as the fifth qualifier. She will look to place in the top-3 at the final that will take place tomorrow at 11:45 a.m.
