Several Bruins compete in Amsterdam at the European Championships
AMSTERDAM โ On top of the Bruins at the USATF Olympic Trials in Eugene, UCLA was also well represented at the European Championships in Olympic Stadium. The event was held July 6-10.

Fresh off his stellar UCLA senior season, Nicholas Scarvelis became the first Greek shot putter to reach the finals at the European Championships. Scarvelis placed 11th with a best of 64-1.75 in the finals and 65-11.75 in the prelims.

UCLA decathlon great Marcus Nilsson finished eighth in the event with 7,942 points. His biggest point total came in the 110m hurdles where he tallied 853 points. He scored 818 points in both the long jump and the 1,500m.

Stamatia Scarvelis started off the completion in the shot put where she finished 26th with a throw of 50-10.25.
