Rojer, Matkowski Heading to Rio

Former UCLA tennis players Jean-Julien Rojer and Marcin Matkowski will represent their respective countries next month in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the ITF announced on Friday.ย Both Rojer and Matkowski will compete in the men's doubles event at the Olympic Tennis Centre in Barra Olympic Park.
Netherlands native Rojer is a two-time Grand Slam title winner, first capturing the mixed doubles title at the 2014 French Open with Anna-Lena Grönefeld and then claiming the Wimbledon Doubles Championship in 2015 with Horia Tecau.ย Capping off a banner year, Rojer and Tecau won the doubles title at the 2015 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in November and clinched year-end No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Doubles Team Rankings. ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
Rojer was a three-year letter winner at UCLA from 2000-02. ย With then-partner Matkowski, the two-time All-American was the 2002 Pac-12 Doubles Champion and Doubles Team of the Year.ย The duo also took home the ITA All-American Championships doubles title in 2001.
Representing Poland, Matkowski is a three-time Grand Slam runner-up.ย In 2011, he and partner Mariusz Fyrstenberg fell in the men's doubles final at the U.S. Open.ย In mixed doubles, Matkowski and his partners made the finals of the 2012 U.S. Open and the 2015 French Open.ย Matkowski was a three-year letter winner at UCLA from 2001-03.ย The All-American was the 2003 Pac-12 Singles Champion and Player of the Year.ย ย ย ย ย
