
UCLA's Michael Toglia Named West Coast League MVP

Incoming freshman belted seven home runs, totaled 40 RBI.
Incoming UCLA freshman Michael Toglia has been named Most Valuable Player of the West Coast League after hitting .306 with a league-best seven home runs and 40 RBI.
Toglia, a 6-foot-5 first baseman/outfielder from Gig Harbor, Wash., was selected in the 35th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies. Playing for the Wenatchee AppleSox, he finished the summer with 10 doubles and five triples in 45 games, recording eight stolen bases in 10 attempts. He tallied a team-leading 22 extra-base hits.
In addition, rising sophomore right-hander Jon Olsen secured second-team All-West Coast League acclaim. Olsen went 5-2 with a 2.10 ERA in eight games, making seven starts for the Bellingham Bells. The resident of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., totaled 31 strikeouts and 11 walks in 42.2 innings. He earned the save in his only relief appearance.
Incoming UCLA freshmen Ryan Garcia (Yakima Valley), Ryan Kreidler (Wenatchee), Jarron Silva (Victoria), Jack Stronach (Kitsap) and Chase Strumpf (Bellingham) were named honorable mention all-league selections.
