GOLD COAST, Australia – The UCLA women's basketball team, coaching staff and travel party toured the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Gold Coast on Monday, August 22. While there, the Bruins had an opportunity to cuddle a koala, feed the kangaroos and take in some live shows, as well as get a workout in on the Tree Top Challenge.
Located inside Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the TreeTop Challenge, Australia's first and largest adventure theme park in the trees, got our adrenaline pumping! With 80 huge TreeTop Challenges, including 11 insane ziplines – such as the awesome Croc Shock where we literally ziplined over Crocodiles! It was an unforgettable day of thrills, action and adventure.
Most of them encountered three large courses while traversing through pristine bushland, high up in the Currumbin treetops! Spanning through acres of un-spoilt natural bushland a combination of rope and wire challenges provided an opportunity to conquer our fears, discover lush Australian bushland and have a whole lot of fun! He hung about in the trees, climbed ladders, balanced on suspended bridges and jumped on up to huge ziplines (flying foxes) – with many spanning over 120 meters!
After we experienced the TreeTop Challenge, there were an abundance of other activities to engage in on ground level. We hand-fed kangaroos and visited many of the wildlife sanctuaries before sitting down to a delicious meal in one of the cafes.
Regular updates of the women's basketball team's travels in Australia will be provided on uclabruins.com, as well as the team's social media channels listed above. Videos, photos and recaps will be available from each game and plenty of excursion photos and videos of each outing will also be shared.
