College Station, Texas - In front of a boisterous Fish Camp Night crowd of 5,875 at Ellis Field Friday night, No. 15 UCLA (2-0) defeated No. 11 Texas A&M (1-2) by a 1-0 score. The Bruins received the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute from redshirt freshman Chloe Castaneda, the first goal of her collegiate career.
MacKenzie Cerda started the game-winning play with a pass to Anika Rodriguez across the top of the box. Rodriguez slotted a pass to Castaneda just outside the right corner of the penalty box, and Castaneda fired a bullet into the upper right corner to give UCLA the 1-0 lead after a scoreless 82 minutes of play.
The Bruins had a chance to put the game away just two minutes later, but Rice saved a penalty kick by Annie Alvarado to keep the score 1-0.BruWINNING in College Station! @uclawsoccer snags a big-time win over Texas A&M. Here's the game-winner: https://t.co/67e3ah4hB4
