Four UCLA rowers excel at the U-23 World Championships
Four UCLA rowers โ Marie Jacquet, Saskia Budgett, Sierra Bronkhorst and Kyra Edwards โ had strong performances at the Under-23 World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, during the final week of August.

Most notably, Jacquet won the bronze medal in the U-23 4x for France, her native country. Jacquet, a rising senior from Chalon-sur-Saone, France, has been a mainstay in the Bruins' varsity eight the past two seasons.

Budgett, who will enter her sophomore season in 2016-17, took fourth place rowing for Great Britain in the A final of the U-23 4-. As a freshman last season, she stroked the Bruins' varsity eight.

Bronkhorst won the B final for Canada, helping the U-23 4- to a seventh-place overall finish. Her crew finished less than one second from a second-place finish in the repechage (top two teams advance to the A final). Bronkhorst, who will be a junior in 2016-17, has rowed in UCLA's varsity eight the past two years.

Edwards took second place in the B final, rowing for Great Britain in the U-23 4x. Her crew finished less than one second from advancing to the A final in the repechage. Edwards, a rising sophomore, rowed in the Bruins' varsity eight as a freshman last season.
