Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Five UCLA men's tennis players will be in action in tomorrow's round of 16 at the nearby Sherwood Country Club, as the Bruins enjoyed a solid first day of competition at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup.

Straight-set winners on the day included Logan Staggs, Joseph Di Giulio, Martin Redlicki, Evan Zhu and Austin Rapp. Zhu actually made his collegiate debut on Friday, as the Bruin freshman recently joined the team in January. He got off on the right foot, downing Baylor's Jimmy Bendeck, 6-4, 6-4. Zhu will meet Stanford's Brandon Sutter on Saturday.

In doubles, UCLA's Ben Goldberg and Logan Staggs advanced to the seminfinals following a pair of wins on Friday.
