LAS VEGAS - Top-seeded Ena Shibahara survived two tough matches on Saturday at the Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships, ultimately earning a spot in Sunday's semifinals at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Shibahara needed three tiebreakers to overcome Oklahoma State's Aliona Bolsova in the round of 16, winning 6-7, 7-6, 7-6. Her quarterfinal showdown with Florida's Anna Danilina wasn't much easier, with Shibahara taking a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory.

Her semifinal opponent on Sunday is Pepperdine's Mayar Sherif Ahmed. They are scheduled to square off at 11:00 a.m.

Shibahara and partner Jada Hart, seeded No. 4, didn't fare so well in the quarterfinals of doubles on Saturday, falling to Danilina and Ingrid Neel of Florida, 6-3.

National Collegiate Tennis Classic Update

UCLA's Kristin Wiley and Gabby Andrews are competing at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Rancho Mirage, Calif. this weekend and both players were beaten in the first round on Saturday. Wiley fell to Stanford's Emma Higuchi, 6-4, 6-2, and Andrews was downed by USC's Angela Kulikov, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
