LAS VEGAS - UCLA's Ena Shibahara came up just short in her bid to take home the title at the Freeman Memorial Championships, falling to Stanford's Melissa Lord in the singles final on Sunday at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Shibahara, the tournament's top-seeded player, began her day with a straigh-set victory in the semifinals, as she downed Pepperdine's Mayar Sherif Ahmed, 6-4, 6-3. That win set up a meeting with Lord in the final, as the Stanford sophomore was able to prevail, 6-3, 6-3. It marked just the third loss of Shibahara's young collegiate career, as the Bruin freshman has compiled a 20-3 record since the fall.

In the semifinals of the Flight-I doubles draw, Pepperdine's second-seeded Ahmed and Christine Maddox downed the fourth-seeded Jada Hart and Shibahara, 7-6.

In several consolation singles matches on Sunday, Hart and Alaina Miller both posted wins. Hart downed North Carolina's Cassandra Vazquez, 6-0, 6-4, and Miller was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over North Carolina's Maggie Kane. Terri Fleming and Miller also posted a win in doubles, downing Alexa Graham/Vazquez of UNC, 6-3.
