SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA senior Bryce Alford has captured Pac-12 of the Week honors for the second time in his career, as announced Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.
 
Alford, a 6-foot-3 guard from Albuquerque, N.M., averaged 26.0 points in UCLA's road wins at Colorado and Utah last week. He scored a career-high 37 points in UCLA's 104-89 victory at Colorado on Jan. 12 before adding 15 points in the team's 83-82 win at Utah on Jan. 14.

Alford also received the conference's weekly award on Jan. 11, 2016.
 
Between both road victories, Alford shot 56.7 percent from the field and knocked down 12 of 21 three-point attempts (57.1 percent). He made 9 of 14 three-pointers in the 37-point effort at Colorado, tying the school record for most made three-pointers in one game. As a sophomore in 2015, Alford made nine three-pointers in UCLA's NCAA Tournament win against SMU, tying a school record set by Jason Kapono in 2003.
 
Alford's 37 points last Thursday were the most points scored by a Bruin in a road game (or neutral-site contest) since Kapono had 44 points in UCLA's 98-83 win at Washington State on Jan. 4, 2003. Kapono made 9 of 10 three-pointers in that game. Alford's 37 points were the most by any UCLA player in a game since Feb. 10, 2005, when Dijon Thompson had 39 against Arizona State.
 
Alford, who currently ranks No. 14 on UCLA's all-time scoring list (1,702 points), has made 278 three-pointers in his collegiate career, currently the second-highest total in school history and the No. 10 total in the Pac-12 career record book. Jason Kapono ranks No. 1 on UCLA's all-time list and No. 5 in the Pac-12's record book (317 three-pointers).
 
UCLA has raced to its best start (18-1) since the Bruins' 2006-07 squad opened its season with 18 wins through its first 19 games. The Bruins have not started any season with a 19-1 record since the 1991-92 team began 21-1. UCLA's 1994-95 team went 32-1 overall, as the team's 100-93 loss to Cal on Jan. 28, 1995, was later deemed a forfeit.
 
Alford's hot shooting last week helped UCLA sweep the Rocky Mountain road trip for just the second time in six years (since Colorado and Utah joined the conference prior to the 2011-12 school year). That "road sweep" through Colorado and Utah has happened just four times in six seasons. UCLA accomplished the feat in 2013 and 2017, and Arizona earned the sweep in 2014 and 2015.
 
This marks the fourth time in 10 weeks this season in which one of UCLA's basketball players has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors. Freshman Lonzo Ball was named the Player of the Week on Nov. 28, while freshman TJ Leaf secured the weekly honor on Dec. 5 and Dec. 19.
 
The Bruins are currently ranked No. 3 in both the AP and USA Today Coaches polls.
 
UCLA returns to action against Arizona State (9-9, 2-3 Pac-12) on Thursday in Pauley Pavilion. Game time is 8 p.m. (PT). The Bruins' game will be nationally televised by FOX Sports 1 (FS1), with Gus Johnson and Steve Lavin calling the action. The radio broadcast will be available in the Los Angeles area on AM 1150.
