LOS ANGELES – UCLA senior Bryce Alford of the men's basketball team has been voted the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time this season.

Alford, who secured Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career on Monday, helped lead No. 3 UCLA to a pair of road wins at Colorado and Utah last week. He averaged 26.0 points per game and shot 57.1 percent (12-for-21) from three-point range.

Currently the third-leading scorer in the Pac-12, Alford registered a career-high 37 points in UCLA's 104-89 win at Colorado last Thursday evening. He made 9 of 14 three-pointers in that game, tying the school record for most made three-pointers in one game. As a sophomore in 2015, Alford made nine three-pointers in UCLA's NCAA Tournament win against SMU, tying a school record set by Jason Kapono in 2003.

Alford's 37 points at Colorado were the most points scored by any UCLA player in a road game (or neutral-site contest) since Kapono had 44 points in UCLA's 98-83 win at Washington State on Jan. 4, 2003. Kapono made 9 of 10 three-pointers in that game.

Alford's 37 points were the most by any UCLA player in a game since Feb. 10, 2005, when Dijon Thompson had 39 against Arizona State.

The weekly award is chosen by fans on Twitter via @UCLAAthletics. The other three nominees for this week's award included Micah Ma'a (men's volleyball), Monique Billings (women's basketball) and Maddie Musselman (women's water polo).

Ranked No. 3 in the nation, UCLA (18-1, 5-1) returns to the court against Arizona State (9-9, 2-3) on Thursday, Jan. 19. Game time is 8 p.m. (PT). UCLA's game will be nationally televised by FOX Sports 1 (FS1).
