PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The fifth-ranked Bruins struggled on day two of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, shooting 15-over 299 to drop to sixth after 36 holes (+11, 579) at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. UCLA went from five shots ahead after round one to 14 shots back going into Tuesday's final round.
Sophomore Bethany Wu was the lone Bruin to finish under par on Monday with a 1-under 70. She is tied for eighth after 36 holes at even-par 142. Wu overcame a triple bogey on the fifth by making birdies on #6, #8 and #9. On the back nine, she would make three more birdies on #12, #15 and #16 to go with two bogeys on #10 and #18.
Sophomore Lilia Vu is tied for 17th at +2 (144) following a 4-over 75. She made three birdies (#5, #6, #13) to go with three bogeys and two doubles. Freshman Mariel Galdiano is tied for 23rd at +4 (146), going 6-over (77) on Monday. Her lone birdie came on the 10th to go with two bogeys, a double and a triple bogey. Freshman Clare Legaspi is tied for 33rd at +5 (147) after a 6-over 77, as she had no birdies, two bogeys and two doubles. Junior Joo Seo shot a non-team scoring +7 (78) and is tied for 77th (+12, 154). She made two birdies in her second round on the 11th and 15th to go with five bogeys and two doubles. Senior Hadas Libman, playing as an individual, is tied for 23rd at +4 (146). She was 2-over (73) on Monday, making birdies on #7 and #16, two bogeys and one double.
