LOS ANGELES – The UCLA track and field team will head to College Station, Texas for the second week of the indoor season to participate in the Charlie Thomas Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.
The two-day meet will begin on Friday, Feb. 3 at 12:30 p.m. PT with the start of the heptathlon. Saturday, Feb. 4 will begin at 8:30 a.m. PT.
The Bruins will be going up against another talented field as three men's teams are ranked in Texas A&M (5th), Texas (16th), Houston (25th), and two women's squads in Texas (6th) and Baylor (10th).
After only one week of competition for the Bruins, two marks are already ranked nationally. Michael Burke's high jump of 7-3 is second in the nation while the 9:42.88 by the DMR is 10th. UCLA posted ten top-10 indoor school marks and six top-5 marks.
The Bruins will split the squad the next weekend as the majority of the team will head to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Don Kirby Invitational while the distance squad travels north to Seattle for the Husky Invitational. Both two-day meets will begin on Friday, Feb. 10.
