FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 19 UCLA swimming and diving team opened the 2017 Pac-12 Championships with a pair of school records in the competition's first two relay events. Following the strong showing, the Bruins hold a share of fourth place with 102 points.

In the 200 Medley Relay, the UCLA quartet of Linnea Mack, Sarah Kaunitz, Katie Grover and Isabella Goldsmith posted a time of 1:36.92 to break the previous school record of 1:37.17, previously set by Madison White, Allison Wine, Noelle Tarazona and Mack at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships. Goldsmith anchored the relay with a time of 22.18. UCLA finished in fifth place, just 2.6 seconds back of the Stanford team of Ally Howe, Kim Williams, Janet Hu and Simone Manuel, which swam a 1:34.32.

Not to be outdone, the UCLA 800 Free Relay team of Kenisha Liu, White, Grover and Katy Campbell eyed a school record of its own, which they captured resoundingly, with a time of 7:04.84. The previous record of 7:06.23, set by Ting Wen Quah, Anna Senko, Tarazona and Andrea Reigel in 2013, was topped by 1.39 seconds. The Bruins finished in fourth place, as Stanford's quartet of Lia Neal, Katie Drabot, Ella Eastin and Katie Ledecky set a new NCAA record time of 6:49.42.

Thursday's events will begin with the preliminaries of the 500 Free, 200 IM and 50 Free and close with the finals of each of those events, plus the 200 Free Relay. In between, the first women's diving competition will take place with the 1 Meter.
