COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UCLA track and field team had three of their four student-athletes compete on day one of the NCAA Indoor Championships, Friday evening at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium.
The Bruins started the meet with a pair of 12th place finishes. Senior Torie Owers posted her best showing at a NCAA Championship by throwing 52-8.75 (16.07m). Senior Austin Hazel also improved in his second appearance at the national meet by leaping 24-9.25 (7.55m).
Sophomore Dotun Ogundeji closed out day one for UCLA by placing 15th with a throw of 56-8 (17.27m).
UCLA will wrap up the NCAA Indoor Championships tomorrow. Michael Burke will be the lone Bruin competitor on the day. The redshirt-freshman will 1:30 compete in the high jump at 1:30 p.m. PT.
