NEW ORLEANS – Four UCLA student-athletes garnered All-America honors as announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

All four Bruins earned second-team honors. The Bruins started the meet with a pair of 12th place finishes at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium. Senior Torie Owers posted her best showing at a NCAA Championship by throwing 52-8.75 (16.07m). Owers earned her second career indoor All-America honor as she placed 14th in 2015.

Senior Austin Hazel also improved in his second appearance at the national meet by leaping 24-9.25 (7.55m). Hazel picks up his first All-America honor as he earned USTFCCCA honorable mention accolades during the outdoor season with his 21st place finish.

 
Sophomore Dotun Ogundeji closed out day one for UCLA by placing 15th with a throw of 56-8 (17.27m). Ogundeji earned second-team honors for the second straight year as he placed 12th at the indoor meet in 2016. He was an honorable mention selection in the shot put and discus during the outdoor season.

Redshirt-freshman Michael Burke was the lone competitor on the day for the Bruins. Burke closed out his first NCAA Championships appearance by placing tied for 12th in the high jump with a leap of 6-10.75 (2.10m). The All-America honor is a career first for Burke.

UCLA will return to the outdoor oval on Saturday, March 25 at the Pac-12 versus Big Ten Challenge. The meet will be held at Sun Angel Stadium on the campus of Arizona State.
