A total of 13 Bruins are on the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) opening day rosters for 2017, including 10 members of UCLA's 2013 NCAA Championship squad.

The North Carolina Courage has the most UCLA representation with six players on the roster – Darian Jenkins, Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis, Katelyn Rowland, Taylor Smith and McCall Zerboni. The latter five were part of the Western New York Flash team that won the 2016 NWSL Championship before they relocated to North Carolina. The Boston Breakers are the only other team with multiple Bruins on the squad – 2014 graduates Megan Oyster and Rosie White. Other UCLA alumnae playing in the league are Lauren Barnes (Seattle Reign FC), Caprice Dydasco (Washington Spirit), Lauren Kaskie (Chicago Red Stars), Sarah Killion (Sky Blue FC) and Sydney Leroux (FC Kansas City).

The season kicks off on Saturday, Apr. 15 with Kaskie's Chicago Red Stars playing at the Houston Dash at 11am PT. Dydasco's Washington Spirit hosts the North Carolina Courage at 12pm PT, and Barnes' Seattle Reign FC hosts Killian's Sky Blue FC squad at 7pm PT. On Sunday, Apr. 16, Oyster, White and the Boston Breakers visit Leroux and FC Kansas City for a 3pm PT game.

Lifetime will televise 22 regular-season matches, both playoff semifinal games and the NWSL Championship game. The NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime will air every Saturday beginning at 12:30 pm PT with a 30-minute pregame show leading up to kickoff at 1 pm PT.
