NAPA, Calif. - Sophomore Lilia Vu broke UCLA's single-round school record with a 9-under 63 during the second round of the Silverado Showdown on Monday at the Silverado Resort and Spa. 

Vu made four birdies (#4, #5, #7 and #8) on the front nine, with her lone bogey coming on the sixth. She then really turned it on for the final nine, making birdies on #10, #12 and #14, as well as the last three holes, to break the single-round record by one shot. The previous best round for a Bruin was an 8-under 64 by Bronte Law in April 2015. Thanks to her 10 birdies and 9-under round, Vu, who set a Silverado course record, vaulted up 29 spots on the leaderboard and is tied for second at 7-under (137) after 36 holes, just one shot back of Stanford's Andrea Lee.

Sophomore Bethany Wu and freshman Mariel Galdiano are tied for fifth at 3-under (141), as both shot 1-over 73s on Monday. Wu made three birdies in four holes (#9, #11 and #12) to go with four bogeys, while Galdiano birdied the ninth and 16th, adding three bogeys. Junior Erin Choi fired a 1-under 71 and is tied for 22nd (+1, 145). She made four birdies on #5, #8, #9 and #17, one bogey and one double. Freshman Clare Legaspi shot an 8-over 80 and is in 78th place (+13, 157), making six bogeys and a double on Monday.

The team race will come down to Stanford and UCLA during Tuesday's final round. The Bruins shot an 8-under 280 on Monday and are at 12-under (564), five shots back of the Cardinal. The final round will be a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m., with Galdiano and Vu opening on the first, Wu starting on the second and Legaspi and Choi opening on the third.
