Zhu Announced as Pac-12 Player of the Week

Men's Tennis

The honor is the first of the freshman's career.

UCLA freshman Evan Zhu (Irvine, Calif./K12 Online) was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week today as announced by the league.

Visiting UCLA found itself in a hole early against No. 19 Stanford, staring down a 2-0 deficit. The Bruins stormed back, though, and it was Zhu who completed the comeback. After topping the Cardinal's David Wilczynski with a 6-4 first set, Zhu found himself knotted with the Stanford junior heading into a decisive tiebreak. Even at five points apiece and with momentum teetering, Zhu stepped up and secured the Bruins' third Pac-12 victory in as many tries with a 6-4, 7-6 (5) decision.

This is the Bruins' 34th all-time weekly honor and the first of Zhu's career.
