UCLA junior Martin Redlicki (Boca Raton, Fla./Lake Zurich HS) was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week today as announced by the league.
Redlicki capped an unbeaten week with a Pac-12-clinching win over Nick Crystal of No. 6 USC that twice went to a tiebreaker. With the Bruins up two, but the Trojans threatening on the three remaining courts, the UCLA junior powered back down 5-6 on Court 2. One set after claiming an 11-9 tiebreak, Redlicki flipped a switch and charged to a 7-2 decider. Along with Evan Zhu, the No. 12 duo also recorded an upset win over USC's No. 10 tandem of Brandon Holt and Riley Smith on Court 1, 6-3. Earlier in the week, Redlicki defeated Cal Lutheran's Lucas Tilly in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
This is Redlicki's third honors of the season, sixth of his career and the 35th all-time for the Bruins. It also marks a Pac-12-best fifth Player of the Week award for a UCLA player on the season.
