LOS ANGELES - UCLA women's volleyball announced its 2017 schedule on Thursday. The slate will feature 11 home matches and 16 televised contests.
The 2017 season will begin in Honolulu, Hawai'i, as the Bruins take part in the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational. UCLA will face San Diego on Friday, Aug. 25 at 7:45 p.m. PT, Marquette on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 7:45 p.m. PT and host Hawai'i on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. PT. Another tournament will be on tap the following weekend, as UCLA heads to the NMSU SpringHill Suites Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M., facing host New Mexico State (Friday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. PT) and UNLV (Saturday, Sept. 2 at 9 a.m. PT).
The penultimate weekend of non-conference play takes the Bruins to Lincoln, Neb. for a two-match series at Nebraska on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9, with both contests starting at 5 p.m. PT. The first home match of the 2017 campaign will take place at the John Wooden Center, as UCLA hosts Loyola Marymount in a Wednesday, Sept. 13 matinee at 2 p.m. That contest will also be the first of 15 televised on Pac-12 Networks. The non-conference schedule concludes on Friday, Sept. 15 with a 7 p.m. match at Long Beach State.
UCLA begins Pac-12 Conference play with a four-match homestand, starting on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m., as it takes on crosstown rival USC in a contest televised on ESPNU. The Bruins will also entertain Oregon (Friday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m.), Washington (Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.) and Washington State (Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.) during their homestand. The Oregon (John Wooden Center) and Washington (Pauley Pavilion) matches will both be on Pac-12 Networks. The venue for the WSU match will be determined.
Six of the next eight UCLA contests will be away from Westwood, with all of them televised on Pac-12 Networks. The Bruins travel to Arizona (Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. PT) and Arizona State (Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. PT) before returning home for two in a row at Pauley Pavilion against defending national champion Stanford (Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.) and California (Saturday, Oct. 14 - Time TBD). UCLA is then back on the road for four straight, traveling to Utah (Friday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. PT), Colorado (Saturday, Oct. 21 - Time TBD), Washington State (Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m.) and Washington (Sunday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m.).
The Bruins' final regular-season home stretch will be a four-match homestand starting on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. against Arizona. UCLA will then host Arizona State on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., Colorado on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. and Utah on Friday, Nov. 10 at a time to be determined. The first three contests of that homestand will be played at Pauley, while the Utah match will be at the Wooden Center. The UCLA-Colorado match is the only one of those four that will be televised.
UCLA will be on the road for its final four matches of the regular season, heading to Stanford (Thursday, Nov. 16), California (Sunday, Nov. 19), Oregon State (Wednesday, Nov. 22 - 1 p.m.) and USC (Saturday, Nov. 25). All of those match times (unless noted) are to be determined, with the Stanford, Cal and USC contests airing on Pac-12 Networks. The first four rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be played at campus sites (Dec. 1-2 - First and Second Rounds; Dec. 8-9 - Regionals), with the National Semifinals (Dec. 14) and Championship (Dec. 16) being played at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.
