UCLA head men's golf coach Derek Freeman has announced the addition of Jack Ireland to the Bruins' roster. Ireland, who spent his last two seasons at Cal State Fullerton, will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2017-2018 season.

"We are very excited to have Jack join our golf program," Freeman said. "He started to play really well this spring and we believe he will make an immediate impact on our team. Jack fills a vital role of giving us more depth on our team."

Ireland appeared in eight tournaments last season, posting a team-best scoring average of 72.4 in 24 rounds. His best finish of his sophomore campaign came at the Jackrabbit Invitational when he tied for second with a score of 12-under 204. Ireland had nine under-par rounds in 2016-2017, including five in the 60s. All three of his rounds at the Jackrabbit were in the 60s (68-67-69), as were his final round of the Bill Cullum Invitational (68) in October and his second round at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic (68) in November.

Ireland was named All-Big West Conference Honorable Mention last year, also recording a fourth-place showing at the Sacramento State Invitational in March and a T-7 finish at the Folino Invitational in January. He was the Big West Golfer of the Month for March. As a freshman, Ireland led the team in rounds played (33) and was second in scoring average (74.03), participating in all 11 tournaments. He tied for 14th (-3, 210) at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in September, his best finish of the year. Ireland had a career-low round of 65 in the final round at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in March.
