TEMECULA, Calif. - Bruin alum Matthew Pinizzotto made birdies on the 15th and 16th to capture a one-shot victory at the Temecula Open (Aug. 9-11) on the Golden State Tour. 

Pinizzotto posted an 18-under 198 following rounds of 64, 66 and 68. Fellow Bruin alum Jay Hwang tied for third in the tournament (-14, 202).

It was the second professional victory for Pinizzotto, who claimed his first pro win nearly a year ago to the day, winning the Adams Pro Tour's Bogey Hills Invitational (Aug. 3-6). He has also played in events on the Web.com and PGA Latinoamerica Tours in 2017.

In his four years at UCLA (2011-2015), Pinizzotto appeared in 35 events, recording a win, five top 10s and 11 top 20s. He won the TMC Spring Invitational during his senior season.
