Kaiya McCullough Earns Weekly Honors

Women's Soccer

Bruin defender led UCLA to its third shutout in five road games.

UCLA sophomore Kaiya McCullough was selected the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career and was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week.

McCullough, a defender from Mission Viejo, Calif., helped the Bruins earn their third road shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory at Colorado. Her defensive effort led the way as the Bruins limited Colorado to just three shots in the game, only one of which was on goal. McCullough defended Colorado's leading goal scorer Taylor Kornieck and held her to just one shot in the game.

McCullough is the first Bruin to earn Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. UCLA has totaled four Pac-12 weekly honors - Offensive Player of the Week winners Hailie Mace and Ashley Sanchez and Goalkeeper of the Week Teagan Micah.

The Bruins will next play Oregon on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 5pm on Marshall Field at Drake Stadium.
