Canada's Double-Double Paces UCLA to Win

LOS ANGELES -- Jordin Canada had 18 points and 10 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season as No. 13 UCLA beat No. 10 Oregon State 66-56 on Friday night in Pauley Pavilion to snap the Beavers' 12-game winning streak. The victory also extended UCLA's consecutive home winning streak to 21 games, including six straight over ranked teams.
There were nine lead changes and four ties in the first period as Oregon State claimed a 21-20 lead on a jumper by Gabriella Hanson with 0:48 remaining. Monique Billings led all scorers in the first with seven points.
The Bruins won a defensive-minded second quarter, 12-9, taking a 32-30 lead into the break on a three-pointer at the buzzer by Nicole Kornet. It was her only points of the first half.
The Beavers opened the third period with a 9-0 run, holding the Bruins scoreless for the first four minutes while building a 39-32 lead. Kornet would come to the rescue again, draining a 25-foot three-pointer at the buzzer, just her second field goal of the game, to cut the lead to 46-41 at the end of the third quarter.
Oregon State held a 52-49 lead on a layup by Marie Gulich with 6:41 remaining in the fourth. The Bruins went on an 11-2 run over the next 6:02 to take a 60-54 lead into the final minute of play. Canada and Monique Billings had eight of the 11 points. Billings' jumper with 3:38 to put the Bruins up 59-54. UCLA continued to get stops down the stretch and went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in the final 0:25 of the game to seal the win.
Down five heading into the fourth, UCLA (12-4, 3-2 Pac-12) outscored the Beavers (15-2, 4-1) 25-10 in the final period.
Billings had 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks while Kennedy Burke added 10 points and seven boards for UCLA. Kornet finished with nine points.
Gabriella Hanson led Oregon State with 13 points. Marie Gulich had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Kolbie Orum had 12 points for OSU.
