PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The third-ranked Bruins are in second place after one round of the Stanford Intercollegiate at Poppy Hills Golf Course. UCLA shot a 4-over 288 as a team on Monday and is eight strokes back of host Stanford (-4).
A pair of Bruins are in the Top 10, with freshman Patty Tavatanakit tied for sixth. She is one of just seven players under par after a 1-under 70. Starting on the 10th, Tavatanakit made birdies on #12, #18, #1 and #8 to go with three bogeys. Junior Beth Wu recorded an even-par 71 and is tied for eighth. Her two birdies came back-to-back on the first and second holes, along with a pair of bogeys.
Junior Lilia Vu is tied for 20th following a 2-over 73. Her lone birdie came on the 18th, adding three bogeys. Sophomores Mariel Galdiano and Clare Legaspi are tied for 24th after 3-over 74s. Galdiano birdied her first hole, the 10th, as well as #18, to go with five bogeys. Legaspi had 15 pars and three bogeys in her opening round.
The Bruins will begin round two on Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Legaspi, Galdiano, Vu, Wu and Tavatanakit. Live scoring will be available here.
