MVB Schedule Features Home Match with Ohio St.

The 19-time NCAA Champion UCLA men's volleyball team, which will host the NCAA Championships in Pauley Pavilion in May, swings into action with a series of November exhibition matches before opening up the 2018 season with a January 3 match against the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the Wooden Center.

On November 11, the Bruins will split the squad and take part in tournaments at USC and in Las Vegas. On Sunday, November 12, UCLA comes home to meet Stanford at 10 a.m. in SAC Gym. The Bruins will then host the annual SAC Fall Tournament on campus on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18.

The 2018 regular season begins on January 3^rd with the matchup against NJIT from the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA). That weekend, the Bruins will host the Wooden Classic Tournament with teams from UC San Diego (Big West), King University, which tied for first place in Conference Carolinas last season, and McKendree University from the Midwestern Collegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA).

On January 18-20, UCLA hosts the annual Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Challenge in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins will welcome two-time defending NCAA Champion Ohio State (MIVA), Penn State (EIVA) and USC for the Challenge matches. All four teams in the Challenge own NCAA Men's Volleyball Championships.

The Bruins will play this season in the revamped Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) and open league action against the two new members on February 8 with a match at Concordia, Irvine before heading to play at Grand Canyon on February 10. The Bruins will still square off against traditional foes UC Irvine (now in Big West) CSUN (Big West) and UC Santa Barbara (Big West). The first home league match of the season is set for February 14^th in Pauley against USC. MPSF league matches with Pepperdine, Stanford, BYU and non-league battles versus Long Beach State (Big West) and George Mason (EIVA) fill out the schedule.

Nine UCLA men's volleyball matches have been selected for television by the Pac-12 Networks – Jan. 10 – UC Irvine at 7 p.m., Jan. 18 – Penn State at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 20 – Ohio State at 1:30 p.m., Feb. 1 – Princeton at 7 p.m., Feb. 14 – USC at 7 p.m., Feb. 21 – Long Beach State at 7:30 p.m., Mar. 31 – at USC at TBD, Apr. 5 – Stanford at TBD, Apr. 7 – BYU at TBD.
