Junior Cole Madey was bogey-free with nine birdies to tie a school record on Monday.

PRINCEVILLE, Hawai'i - Junior Cole Madey tied a school record on Monday at the Makai Golf Club, shooting a 9-under 63 during the second round of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. Madey was bogey-free with nine birdies to equal John Merrick's 9-under 63 at the 2003 Pac-10 Championships as the lowest individual round to par ever at UCLA.

Through 36 holes, Madey is tied for sixth at 11-under 133. He made three birdies on his front nine on #4, #5 and #8, then went back-to-back on #11 and #12. Madey added three in a row on holes #14-#16 and punctuated his round with another birdie on #18. 

As a team, the 20th-ranked Bruins are in third place at -29 (547), shooting the low round of the day with a 20-under 268.

Freshman Eddy Lai is tied for 15th (-6, 138), recording a 5-under 67. He birdied his first hole of the day, #2, and after two pars posted an eagle on the par-5 5th. Lai also gained single strokes on #8, #14, #18 and #1, adding a pair of bogeys.

Freshman Devon Bling is tied for 27th (-4, 140), shooting a 3-over 75. He made five birdies (#5, #7, #8, #14 and #18), two bogeys and three doubles. Senior Tyler Collier sits in a tie for 37th (-3, 141), recording a 4-under 68. He also tallied five birdies on #5, #8, #14, #17 and #18, with just one bogey. Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied for 53rd (-1, 143), firing a 2-under 70 on Monday. He birdied four of his first eight holes (#2, #4, #8 and #9), as well as #18, to go with one triple bogey.

The Bruins begin their final round on Tuesday at 8 a.m. HT/11 a.m. PT in another shotgun start on holes #1-#3 in the order of Lai, Madey, Collier, Bling and Yoshihara. Live scoring will be available here.
