October 31, 2017 | Cross Country
LOS ANGELES โ The 2017 All-Pac-12 men's and women's cross country honors were announced by the conference Tuesday. UCLA had two honorees, as junior Robert Brandt and sophomore Garrett Reynolds garnered all-conference accolades for the first time in their careers.
Brandt, in his first season at UCLA after transferring from California, has made an immediate impact with the squad, placing in the Top 10 in every meet in which he has competed. His sixth-place finish in the 8k at the Pac-12 Championships gave him first-team All-Pac-12 distinction.
Reynolds earned a second-team all-conference selection after finishing 14th overall at the Pac-12 Championships, an improvement of 21 spots from his 2016 freshman conference meet performance. Reynolds has three Top 15 finishes to his credit this season, including a runner-up finish at the Roy Griak Invitational.
Following a third-place team finish at the Pac-12 Championships in Eugene, the UCLA men moved up four spots to a tie for No. 10 in the USTFCCCA National Poll, their highest ranking of the season. The Bruin women also improved to eighth in the West Region after finishing eighth at the conference meet.
UCLA's next meet will be the NCAA West Regional Championships in Seattle. The competition is scheduled for Friday, November 10.
