Eleven Bruins Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

Second-team honoree Riley Kelly leads a group of 11 UCLA Cross Country student-athletes, seven on the men's side and four on the women's side, who earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors in 2017.

Kelly, a redshirt freshman from Brisbane, Australia, received second-team acclaim with a 3.86 cumulative GPA. Six of his teammates earned honorable mention honors โ€“ redshirt seniors Daniel De La Torre and Richard Ho, redshirt junior Jackson Marshall, redshirt sophomores Colin Burke and George Gleason, and redshirt freshman Chris Morzenti. Ho and Marshall are three-time honorees, and Burke and Gleason are two-time honorees. Four of the seven Bruins raced at the NCAA Championships, and six participated in the Pac-12 Championships.ย 

On the women's side, senior Roni Yamane picked up her third career honorable mention nod, while sophomore Claire Markey and redshirt freshmen Kelly Bernd and Lucie Semone earned their first career academic honors. All three Bruins competed at the Pac-12 Championships.ย 

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least 50% of the competitions.
