Four Bruins Earn All-West Region Honors

Four UCLA women's soccer players have earned All-West Region honors by the United Soccer Coaches. Receiving first-team honors are midfielder Jessie Fleming and forwards Hailie Mace and Ashley Sanchez. Defender Kaiya McCullough earned second-team honors.

Fleming, a sophomore from London, Ontario, Canada, earns first-team All-Region honors for the second-straight year. A semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, Fleming has recorded five goals, including three game-winners, and a career-high eight assists for 18 points this season. She was ranked as the No. 1 player in Top Drawer Soccer's midseason Top 100 and is a first-team All-Pac-12 honoree.

Mace, a junior from Ventura, Calif., has had a career year in her first year as a forward. The former defender entered the season with zero career goals and has scored a team-leading 15 this year to rank ninth in the nation in goals. Mace is also a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a first-team All-Pac-12 honoree. She ranked No. 8 in the Top Drawer Soccer midseason Top 100 and won the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award a league-best three times this season.

Sanchez, a freshman from Monrovia, Calif., set a new UCLA freshman record with 12 assists, a total that ranks fourth all-time at UCLA. She has four assists in NCAA Tournament play, tied for third on UCLA's NCAA Tournament single-season assist list. She is tied for second on the team in scoring with 24 points (six goals, 12 assists) and three game-winning goals. Sanchez earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors along with Pac-12 All-Freshman acclaim.

McCullough, a sophomore from Mission Viejo, Calif., earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors, as well as second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District acclaim this season. She joins Mace as one of two Bruins to start every game this season. A center back, she has contributed to eight shutouts this season and also scored her first collegiate goal in the 3-2 overtime win over USC.
