Olsen Named Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball

TUCSON, Ariz. โ UCLA right-handed pitcher Jon Olsen was named to the Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-America third team, the publication announced on Monday.
The junior was an All-Pac-12 selection last season after posting a 7-1 record and a 2.86 ERA in 15 starts last season. He totaled 80 strikeouts in 85.0 innings and held opponents to a team-best .201 batting average in 2017. Overall, he ranked top-10 in the Pac-12 in ERA, strikeouts and opponent's batting average. During conference play, he made nine starts and finished with a perfect 6-0 record and a team-low 2.08 ERA.
Over the summer, Olsen played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team where he went 1-0 with a 2.67 ERA in six appearances. He recorded 15 strikeouts compared to just two walks and became the first UCLA player to compete for Team USA since James Kaprielian in 2014.
