GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Seniors Reily Buechler and Sarah Sponcil each produced double-doubles in their final collegiate matches, as the 15th-seeded Bruins saw their 2017 season come to an end on Friday at the O'Connell Center in a four-set loss to #2-seed Florida in the NCAA Regional Semifinals. Set scores were 25-23, 17-25, 17-25, 17-25.

Buechler had 14 kills and 13 digs, while Sponcil posted 42 assists and 13 digs. Freshman Jenny Mosser (11) and junior Kyra Rogers (10) were each in double figures in kills, while junior Zana Muno (20) and sophomore Savvy Simo (13) recorded double figures in digs. Freshman Mac May added eight kills and six digs and sophomore Madeleine Gates notched six kills. The Bruins (21-11) hit .124 as a team.

Set one featured 14 ties and four lead changes, with neither team leading by more than two. Trailing 14-12, the Bruins scored three in a row on two Buechler kills and a Florida (28-1) attack error. Down 17-16, a Rogers kill and Gator attack error gave the Bruins an 18-17 edge. The teams would side out the next 12 points, with a Buechler kill giving the Bruins a set point at 24-23 and a Rogers over-pass kill making it a 25-23 win. Buechler led the Bruins with six kills in the opener to go with four digs, while Rogers was 3-for-3 in kill attempts. Muno and Simo each had four digs. The Bruins were out-hit .297 to .244.
 
The Bruins scored the first point of set two, but gave up the next three and didn't lead for the rest of the set. Florida's largest advantage of set two was eight, as the home team claimed the second 25-17. Mosser tallied four kills, Rogers added three and Muno posted five digs, as the Bruins were out-hit .297 to .065.
 
Just like the second, the Bruins scored the first point of set three, but then gave up four in a row and seven of eight to eventually lose by a similar 25-17 tally. Florida's largest lead of the third was eight. May and Mosser both had three kills, Sponcil recorded five digs and Muno posted four, as the Bruins were out-hit .152 to -.025.

After dropping four of the first five points of set four, the Bruins scored six of seven to go ahead 7-5. Buechler had three kills, Rogers and May recorded aces and Gates had a kill. UCLA's last lead would be at 10-9. Even at 11, three in a row for the Gators gave the home team the lead for good, as Florida would win the fourth 25-17. Buechler had five kills and four digs, Muno added seven digs and Simo posted four digs, as the Bruins were out-hit .371 to .214.
