TEMPE, Ariz -- Sophomore Kennedy Burke had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead #15 UCLA to a 55-52 win on Sunday afternoon over 23rd-ranked Arizona State at Wells Fargo Arena. It was the Bruins' first win in Tempe since 2013 and completed a season sweep of the Sun Devils.

Junior Jordin Canada was the only other Bruin to score in double figures. She had 12 points and added eight rebounds and eight assists and put the Bruins up 55-52 with 21 seconds to go with a pair of clutch free throws. Monique Billings spent the day being double-teamed and had four points and three rebounds, snapping her 31-game double-digit scoring streak. UCLA improved to 22-7 overall and 13-5 in the Pac-12 (fourth place).

Arizona State (18-11, 9-9 Pac-12) scored the first six points of the game but the Bruins scored the next seven to claim their first lead on a three-pointer by Kari Korver (5:14). The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the period until Monique Billings made a pair of free throws to end the period with a 14-12 lead.

ASU held the Bruins scoreless for four minutes while going on an 11-0 run to take its largest lead of the game of seven points (28-21) on a pair of free throws by Reili Richardson at the 4:41 mark of the second period. Canada scored a running floater to end the drought with 4:19 to go as both teams traded buckets the rest of the quarter with ASU holding a 32-27 lead at the break.

Arizona State held a 39-37 lead at the end of three after UCLA won a low-scoring third period, 10-7, which included another four-minute scoring drought by the Bruins. The Bruins had the momentum heading into the final period, but was only 1-and-6 on the year when trailing after three periods.

In the fourth, UCLA got huge three-pointers off the bench from Paulina Hersler (7:43) and Nicole Kornet (5:41) to give the Bruins a 50-45 lead. But UCLA went scoreless for another 3:41, only to see ASU reclaim the lead at 51-50 on a pair of free throws by Sophie Brunner with 2:00 to go. Trailing 52-50, Canada made a pair of free throws to tie the game at 52-52 (1:31) and after a defensive stop, Kornet made one of two at the line to put UCLA up 53-52 (0:42). Another stop by UCLA led to the pair of freebies for Canada that iced the game (0:21).

Brunner led the Sun Devils with 20 points and nine rebounds. Sabrina Haines (11) and Quinn Dornstauder (10) also scored in double figures for ASU.
