UCLA Drops Extra Inning Affair to San Diego

LOS ANGELES โ Sean Bouchard hit his team-best fourth home run of the season as the UCLA baseball team fell to San Diego, 3-1, in 12 innings on Saturday from Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Toreros took the 3-1 lead in the top of the 12th inning as Connor Doyle drove in the game-winning run with an infield single, followed by Jeff Houghtby driving home Noah Prewett with a sacrifice fly to center field.
USD sent the game to extra innings with one run in the ninth inning as Riley Adams hit a RBI-single to right field to plate Colton Waltner.
With the game scoreless in the sixth inning, Bouchard would blast a 1-2 pitch over the left-field fence for a solo home run, his fourth home run of the season and the first run of the game.
Sean Barry (1-0) earned the win for San Diego, throwing 5.0 scoreless innings in relief allowing just one walk, while Troy Conyers (3) tallied the save with a scoreless 12th inning of work. USD's Chris Murphy started the game allowing one run in 6.0 innings.
UCLA's Brian Gadsby (2-3) suffered the loss throwing the final 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Five Bruin pitchers combined to throw 8.1 scoreless innings to start the game led by starter Moises Ceja who scattered one hit in 3.2 innings of work with two strikeouts.
The Bruins will play the final game of the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic on Sunday against crosstown rival USC at Dodger Stadium. Game time is set for 3 p.m. (PT) following the Michigan-San Diego game that starts at 11 a.m. (PT). Sunday's game against the Trojans will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
