April 11, 2017 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES โ UCLA baseball outfielder Brett Stephens has been voted the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time this season.
Stephens, a senior from Moraga, Calif., became the second Bruin this season to hit two home runs in a single game and drove in three runs on Friday in the series opener against Washington. It marks his first home runs since 2015. Over the four-game stretch last week, Stephens led the Bruins in hits, runs and RBIs, while hitting .385 and slugged .923.
The weekly award is chosen by fans on Twitter via @UCLAAthletics. The other three nominees for this week's award included Rachel Garcia (softball), Megan and Nicole McNamara (beach volleyball) and Terri Fleming and Jada Hart (women's tennis).
The Bruins are on the road this weekend when they travel to Stanford to face the Cardinal in a three-game Pac-12 series starting on Thursday at 6 p.m. (PT). All three games of the series will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
