UCLA Earns No. 3 Seed at Long Beach Regional

LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA baseball team has captured a No. 3 seed at the NCAA Baseball Tournament's Long Beach Regional, beginning Friday, June 2,ย and earned its second postseason appearance in the last three seasons.
The Bruins (30-25) will face No. 2 seed Texas (37-22) on Friday from Long Beach State's Blair Field at 4 p.m. (PT). UCLA finished third in the Pac-12 conference with a record of 19-11. The Longhorns finished sixth in the Big 12 Conference with a record of 11-12 but made it all the way to the Big 12 title game before falling to Oklahoma State, 6-5, on Sunday.
No. 1 seed Long Beach State (37-17-1), who won the Big West title with a record of 20-4, will face the No. 4 seed San Diego State (41-19), who won the Mountain West title, in the other Regional contest on Friday. Each of the 16 Regionals features a four-team, double-elimination format.
Both games on Friday will be televised live on ESPN2ย andย streaming online at WatchESPN.
The Bruins earned their 21st NCAA Tournament berth and ninth under head coach John Savage. UCLA will be making its first Regional appearance away from Jackie Robinson Stadium since 2008 when they traveled to Cal State Fullerton as the No. 2 seed. The Bruins are a No. 3 seed in a Regional for the first time since 2004.
The 64-team NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed on ESPN2's hour-long selection show Monday at 9 a.m. (PT).
The Pac-12 Conference will send four teams to this year's NCAA Tournament. No. 1 overall seed Oregon State and No. 8 Stanford will host Regionals, while Arizona will compete at the Lubbock Regional (Texas Tech).
