BALTIMORE, Md. - Finishing the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship with a bogey-free, 6-under 66 on Sunday, Bruin alum Scott McCarron came from behind to win the first PGA TOUR Champions major of his career by one stroke at the Caves Valley Golf Club.
Trailing by six shots entering the final round, McCarron birdied four straight holes (#2-#5) on his front nine, before adding two more birdies on #9 and #10. He parred in the rest of the way and his 18-under 270 total bested former UCLA teammate Brandt Jobe and Bernhard Langer by one shot.
McCarron earned $420,000 with the win, his fourth on the PGA Tour Champions and his second of the season (Allianz Championship in February). He has seven Top 10s on the year and moved up to second on the Charles Schwab Cup money list for 2017 with $1.378 million.
Jobe, who trailed by one heading into Sunday's final round, posted his fifth Top 10 of the season and his fourth in his last five starts. He won the Principal Charity Classic in June, his first PGA TOUR Champions win, and also finished third at the U.S. Senior Open earlier this month. Jobe is fifth on the money list with $1.06 million. UCLA alum Corey Pavin tied for 14th this weekend.
