Bruins Defeat Canada FISU, 1-0

LOS ANGELES - The No. 9-ranked UCLA women's soccer team won its 2017 exhibition opener Friday, defeating Canada FISU, 1-0. Bruin midfielder Chloe Castaneda scored the game's only goal in the ninth minute, tapping in a cross from Anika Rodriguez.
The Bruins outshot the Canadian squad, 11-6. Goalkeeper Teagan Micah, who picked up the victory, made one save, and freshman Lauren Brzykcy made two saves. Canada's goalkeeper Sarah Elizabeth Grace Dilling had one save in 90 minutes of play.
UCLA will be back in action on Sunday, Aug. 13, hosting CSU Bakersfield in another exhibition contest. The match will take place at 6pm on Marshall Field at Drake Stadium. Admission is free.
