PRINCETON, N.J. -- The fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins (7-0) concluded play at the Princeton Invitational, defeating previously unbeaten No. 11 Princeton (7-1), 14-8, on Sunday morning at Denunzio Pool in front of a nationally-televised audience on ESPNU. The Bruins improved to 12-0 all-time against the Waves.

Freshmen Nicolas Saveljic and Chasen Travisano led the Bruins in scoring with four goals apiece while senior Max Irving added a hat trick. Sophomore Alex Wolf got the start and played the first half, making four saves while allowing three goals. Senior Aleksandar Ruzic played the second half, registering four saves while allowing five scores.

Saveljic got the Bruins on the board first with a penalty score (6:32). Princeton's Jordan Colina tied it at 1-1 with a shot from the front court (4:19). But Travisano had an answer with a power play goal at 2:48 left in the first to give UCLA a 2-1 edge. Colina scored his second of the game to tie it at 2-2 (1:40) with a penalty shot bar down to end the scoring in the first.

Senior Jesse Camou broke up a 2-2 tie with a counter score (5:50) and then Irving followed with another one (5:10) to give the Bruins a 4-2 lead in the second quarter. Matt Payne cut the lead to 4-3 (4:28) with a power play goal, but Travisano scored his second on a counter (3:44) to push the lead to 5-3. Saveljic would score his second of the game with a strike from the front court (2:54) to double-up the Tigers, 6-3. Travisano completed his hat trick (0:06) on a 6-on-5 opportunity to end the scoring in the second with UCLA leading 7-3.

Freshman Evan Rosenfeld opened the scoring in the third quarter (6:37) to put UCLA up 8-3. Colina then completed his hat trick (6:07) to cut the lead to 8-4. Irving would add his second of the game on a penalty shot (5:46) to push the lead to 9-4. But Colina would score back-to-back goals (5:03 and 3:44) to increase his total to five, trimming the Bruins' lead to 9-6, which would stand to the end of the period.

Travisano netted his fourth of the game to open the scoring in the fourth (7:13). Then Colina scored his sixth of the contest on a penalty shot (5:41) to cut the lead to 10-7. Senior Matt Farmer pushed the lead to 11-7 with a goal at two meters off a nice feed from Irving (5:14). Payne then added his second goal on a skip shot that snuck past Ruzic (4:00) to make it 11-8 UCLA. Irving would complete his hat trick on a power play goal (3:23) to push the lead to 12-8. Saveljic then completed his hat trick with a strike after an ordinary foul (1:34) to extend the lead to 13-8. Saveljic added his fourth of the game from the front court (0:22) to provide the 14-8 final.

The Bruins return to action on Friday, Sept. 15 vs. No. 6 UC Santa Barbara under the lights at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center at 7:00 p.m. PT.
