Goralski Named Senior CLASS Award Candidate

September 22, 2017 | Women's Soccer

UCLA co-captain Zoey Goralski has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award for women's soccer. The award honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.

Goralski, a defender/forward from Naperville, Ill., is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection and 11-time member of the UCLA Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She is slated to graduate in Fall 2017 with a degree in Physiological Sciences.

A three-year starter, Goralski has played in 71 games and made 46 starts, scoring three goals and totaling 15 assists. She led the team with five assists in 2015 and matched that number in 2016. As a redshirt freshman in 2014, she played in 22 games and earned All-Freshman honors by Soccer America and the Pac-12. Goralski is currently a member of the U.S. Under-23 National Team.

Goralski has been a shining example on and off the field. She has volunteered for the UCLA Prime Time Games in each of the last three years. Prime Time Games is a full-inclusion peer mentor sports program in which economically disadvantaged and underserved middle school students coach, mentor and play alongside children with developmental disabilities. She has also participated in the Adopt-A-Classroom program, writing letters to students to encourage them to succeed in school. Additionally, she has taken part in the Care Extender Program with UCLA Health in 2015 and 2016.

The Senor CLASS Award candidates will be narrowed down to 10 finalists midway through the regular season and placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans. The winner will be announced during the College Cup in December.

To be eligible for the Senior CLASS Award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in Schoolยฎ, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
