LOS ANGELES – UCLA head coach Steve Alford is among 48 coaches across the nation participating in this season's Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge, teaming with ESPN, NABC and the NCAA to produce a one-of-a-kind charity competition.
 
For the fifth consecutive season, Alford will once again represent the Special Olympics of Southern California. The Special Olympics is a global movement that strives to improve the lives of those with intellectual disabilities. Alford, along with 47 other head coaches, will compete in a round robin bracket tournament for the chance to win $100,000 for charity.
 
While training with and competing for the USA Basketball Olympic Team in the summer of 1984 prior to his sophomore season at Indiana University, Alford and his teammates worked with the Special Olympics. Since then, the Bruins' head coach has continued to give back to the organization that began growing in the 1960s.
 
Fans are encouraged to help Coach Alford go all the way in this year's round robin tournament by visiting InfinitiTimeout.com to vote. The current round of tournament voting runs from Jan. 2 through Jan. 21.
In addition to traditional website voting, there's still more that fans can offer to help vote for their favorite coach or charity.
 
For the duration of the college basketball season, every picture posted on Instagram of a fan taking a timeout will count as a vote for your favorite head coach and charity. Fans can use a black and white filter of themselves making the timeout hand pose and use the hashtag #Timeout2Vote in the Instagram caption. Be sure to mention that coach that you'd like your vote to count for.
